Chaussé: This field division runs from the top corners to the bottom center. The example shown would be blazoned, "Gules, chaussé argent." The field is the red center section and the white edge sections are the chausse portion. No difference is given between a pile and chaussé (as per April 2000 LoAR), thus "Argent, a pile gules." is directly in conflict with "Gules, chaussé argent."
SENA A.3. Armory Style B. 3. d. Armory Contrast, Elements Otherwise Divided:
Elements not already mentioned must have good contrast between their parts. These include fields or charges evenly divided into four parts other than quarterly or per saltire, fields or charges evenly divided into more than four parts of two different tinctures, and fields or charges unevenly divided into multiple parts of two different tinctures; all of these must have good contrast between adjacent parts of the field.

Definition:
(includes defaults, proper tinctures, blazoning)
May 2000 - charges cannot overlap outer portions of chausse:
The chaussé line of division, along with chapé and vêtu , are different from other lines of divisions in that the outer portions never contained charges in period. Thus we can also not allow charges that overlap the outer portions.
March 1998 - cannot charge chausse:
It cannot be as it was blazoned, as we do not charge vêtu, chapé or chaussé.
Feb 1981 LoAR - rule of tincture:
Alanna of Caer du Pard. NOTE: Chaussé is a division of the field formed by two lines from dexter chief and sinister chief meeting at the base point. As it is not an even division of the field, it may not be of two metals or two colors.
