A letter written by a Principal Herald or a designated deputy to describe the submissions from their kingdom that they would like to have registered. This is usually abbreviated LoI. A Letter of Intent to Protect//or a //Letter of Intent to Unprotect// is a letter written by a member of the College of Arms describing names or armory which the author believes should receive (or should lose) protection as important non-SCA names or armory. These letters are subject to the same administrative processes as standard Letters of Intent. These are usually abbreviated LoItP and LoItU respectively. In kingdoms that have an internal submissions process using Letters of Intent, the Letter of Intent written at the Society level for the College of Arms is often termed an //External Letter of Intent// (abbreviated ELoI or XLoI) and the Letter of Intent written for use within the Kingdom is termed an //Internal Letter of Intent (abbreviated ILoI).
