Bruce Draconarius' summary of registering unusual items:

  • Used in period heraldry = BEST
  • European and known in period = FINE
  • Non-European and known in period = SFPP
  • Not known in period = Sorry, try again

A list of underused charges courtesy of Bruce Draconarius in July 2013:

  • The hoe; the plummet; the battering ram; the rudder; the winnowing fan or vannet; the plough (note correct spelling); the bellows; the pickaxe; the shovel/spade; the armillary sphere; the drawknife; the carpenter's square; the saltcellar.
  • Chaine shot, cross gringoly, troll, demi-beasts...
