Byname/Surname[edit | edit source]

  • Found in Tumanova (The Compleat Russan Name Book) and Unbegaun (Russian Surnames) as a surname derived from a nickname meaning "touch-me-not", but no dates in either source
  • Not found in Wickenden's 3rd edition or on Family Search
  • Not found in "Botanical Bynames in Medieval Russia" (Wickenden) although other flower-based and plant-based names are noted. http://www.goldschp.net/archive/plantnames.html
  • If going for a descriptive non-floral meaning, have names like Nepotseluev "unkissed" in Wickenden.
